How Kindred Lane handles account, community, and Amazon product-page data in the current service.
Jump to a sectionOverview
Kindred Lane helps community members check trusted local inventory before buying new. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, and how we protect it when you use our web app, community pages, or browser extension.
Our goal is to keep the product narrow in scope: we use page context from supported Amazon product pages to show relevant community options, not to build a broad shopping profile.
Information we collect
We collect the information needed to create your account, connect you to the right community, and support requests and offers between members.
This can include account details, community profile details, and the product-page context required to resolve a community match on supported Amazon pages.
- Account information such as name, email address, and sign-in provider.
- Community details such as neighborhood, pickup area, membership status, and invite history.
- Request and offer content you choose to create, including notes, timing, and exchange preferences.
- Supported Amazon product-page context such as the current URL, host, ASIN, title, brand, image URL, displayed price, category breadcrumbs, and selected variants.
- A random extension installation identifier, extension version, authenticated extension session, active community state, and recent operational events used to keep the extension connected and diagnose failures.
How we use information
We use information to authenticate you, apply community trust boundaries, match product context to community supply, and help members coordinate exchanges.
We may also use product and usage information to improve reliability, prevent abuse, and understand whether the product is helping communities reuse items successfully.
Amazon product-page context
When you use the Kindred Lane extension on a supported Amazon product page, we read only the current page context needed to identify the item and request possible community matches.
We may transmit this context to Kindred Lane when resolving the item, loading community options, prefilling or creating a request, or attaching page context to feedback you choose to submit.
We do not import Amazon purchase history, account credentials, cart contents, payment information, or unrelated browsing activity as part of the current service.
Extension storage and diagnostics
The extension stores a random installation identifier, extension session token, and community session state in Chrome local storage so it can remain connected to your account. It also keeps a bounded local log of the most recent 100 extension operational events for diagnostics.
We process operational events such as installation, session connection, overlay display, match-result viewing, request or response creation, and feedback submission to operate and secure the service, diagnose failures, prevent abuse, and understand product performance. We do not use this information for targeted advertising.
Removing the extension or clearing its Chrome storage removes locally stored extension data. It does not automatically delete requests, responses, feedback, or other records already submitted to Kindred Lane.
Communities and member visibility
Kindred Lane is designed around bounded communities. Requests, offers, and lightweight availability details are shown only inside the trust boundaries of the communities where you participate.
Organizers and moderators may see additional coordination details needed to support community health, resolve issues, and enforce participation rules.
Data retention
We keep account, community, and exchange records for as long as they are needed to operate the service, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and protect community safety.
We review retention settings over time and may remove or anonymize data when it is no longer needed for these purposes.
Your choices and controls
You can choose whether to install the extension, whether to participate in a community, and what request or profile details to share with other members.
To request access, correction, or deletion of your Kindred Lane account or service data, email help@kindredlane.com. We may retain limited records when required by law or needed to protect community safety, resolve disputes, or prevent fraud and abuse, and we will explain any applicable limitation.
